Quite honestly, my subject was by far the most interesting person in the room at the time of our observation and it really surprised me that absolutely no one else chose him. My subject first attracted my eyes by being dressed in distinctive, all black hardcore clothing a black with grey pinstripes neo-mafioso hat. He was sitting down but I'll say he was like 5'11" and probably 165/170 pounds. He was caucasian, my guess would be of eastern/central european background. He was slouched very relaxedly on one of the library couches, his arm engaged with a woman who, judging by how intimate they were being, was his girlfriend. His other hand was distracted with an iPod Touch which he was scrolling with his thumb.
It seemed interesting to me just how he was splitting his attention between phone and significant other. He was lightly serenading his lover with what looked like sweet nothings, but upon further eavesdropping was actually talking about football. (maybe he was checking scores on his iPod?)
He continued to gather in his girlfriend with his hooked arm, cradling her against his chest while toying his iPod with his other hand as though it were a miniature piano. I couldn't only think about how interesting they looked. Both dressed in black and ignoring all else around them. Definitely no one I would ever go up to and strike up a conversation with, however they both seemed very happy so I couldn't totally dismiss them. The couple ended up leaving before I could further delve into speculations, but the ten minutes that I had to observe them was plenty to tell a little about their character. In many ways they embodied the new technological, edgy, multitasking generation that we have come to be known by.
